Use a NON-INHIBITING Laser or LED.
Before choosing a class III laser, the most important thing to know is if the condition is acute or chronic. This will determine if an inhibiting laser or a non-inhibiting laser is what I would recommend.
Class III Lasers can have either an analgesic effect or an inhibiting effect. Try to get a free trial so you can experience both effects.
While class 4 lasers dominate the commercial cold laser market for crisis management, with the exception of FDA certified class 3 lasers that were actually approved for reasons other than a heating blanket, class 3 lasers are a breed of lasers that do not require a trained technician because they will not burn you if you keep it in one place. The very first step in deciding to use a class 4 or class 3 is if you want to take the risk of burning someone with a poorly trained technician.
Based on the experiences of all the chiropractors, veterinarians and other health professionals, class 4 lasers are sold more to animal hospitals while class 3 lasers are the best selling lasers to chiropractors and pain management clinics. Most class 4 lasers work at class 3 settings after "optic reduction" (this is the way it was taught to me). Many companies say that their class 3 lasers is just as effective as the deep penetrating class 4 lasers. These are class 3 lasers that have 100 or 200 watt probes. Most of the lasers have 25 to 50 watt probes and many of the residential companies use the research from 200 watt probes used in research studies. If you want to know if a 25 watt, a 50 watt, or a 200 watt probe will work best for you, FIND OUT WHAT THAT PARTICULAR LASERS RESULTS WERE BASES ON and not general research using the most powerful class 3 laser. I have seen companies selling a 3,000 dollar laser talking the same jargon as the 20,000 dollar class 3 lasers. A real Class IV runs at Class IV settings, not geared down to Class III power (output power after input power and peak power reduction). Don't overpay for a Class IV laser unless you know it is running its not running on PWP (phony watt power)
Things to consider: Was the person a company is referring to that received benefit from their cold laser albino? Was their skin so light that it didn't need to undergo the same treatment time and now they say their laser works in 30 seconds per spot? How much light is reflected based on your skin thickness and was the light pressed into the skin to move the light absorbing blood out of the way? Most people who are buying a class 3 laser are asking the wrong types of questions and dealers love it. This is where my research comes in. I might not know how to read between the lines of any manipulation that a laser company bases their research on but I am the one that gets the emails from customers and doctors who complain and return their lasers who say this or that one didn't work. I am the one who patients call when they need help returning a laser and the manufacturer is giving them the run around. Even if a laser works for some people, each laser has a certain good will with me based on the feedback I get from customers. The best laser for humans might not be the best for a horse because it takes so much longer ALTHOUGH IT DOES WORK ON THE HORSE BUT TAKES 5 TO 10 TIMES LONGER. The same goes for class 3 lasers that take 30 seconds on some people to be effective but on others it takes 4 minutes per spot and due to the time of a session in a clinic, perfectly trained technicians using the wrong type of laser for that person usually ends up with a customer calling me bitching that cold lasers are a scam and they don't work and why am I promoting something that doesn't work. Yea, because the laser they used wasn't powerful enough or took too long to do the job that they didn't have time for. I will say this, most class 3 lasers that are found in the back of every magazine are the weakest ones. If your neighbor is selling a laser as a home based business and tries to get you to sign up under them, it is usually an inflated priced laser that is not powerful enough. As my research has shown to me, the best lasers are sold under one company and not by 1000's of dealers around the country who are trying to make a buck. A manufacturer cannot possibly stand behind the recommendations of sellers who are not trained health professionals.
Most of the cheap lasers get returned anyway and when people ask for refunds, they get them because the lasers are so cheap to make that the ones that do sell make up for it. I have found that certain companies always seem to have demos and slightly used lasers. Do you see any high end companies selling used lasers? The good lasers rarely get returned while some brands are known for returns.
It is worth spending the extra money on a laser if you actually need a more powerful laser or you simply need to get the session done quicker. Those are the only 2 reasons why I would spend the extra money. Most people can get away with a 2,000 laser if they have an extra 40 minutes to 2 hours to spend a week using their laser. A $4,000 to $6,000 laser works a little quicker but not necessarily better. When you get into the probes at 100+ watts, this is when the lasers go deeper AND work quicker. Their are Class III lasers that can take 30 seconds to treat an area that can cost up to $15,000 and some that are close to $20,000 that work even quicker.
My prerequisites for selling Class III Lasers
FDA Approved (Not Exempting models approved for Heating Pads)
Penetration of at least 5 cm without having to press the blood out of the way
Must be CE Certified
Must have true independent research that I can contact
Manufacturers must point to their OWN RESEARCH, not general bell curved generic studies
Must be able to switch from LED to Laser w/o having both on at the same time as only option.
Must work with scalar energy stickers or shells that can be programmed
Must have "documented" testimonials, not just by telling you over the phone. HUGE SCAM
Must be currently in at least 75 veterinarian clinics
Company must already be around 5 years or longer
Must be currently in at least 100 chiropractic clinics
Must be sold to at least 1,000 residential users
Must state the level of penetration it has (ex: 30 mw of power is low, usually
penetrates a sore knee or elbow
Must have at least a 5 year warranty (plastic models usually don't)
Must have separate laser and LED settings. Never good to use them both at same time.
If the laser is a LED combo, the LEDs must be strong enough move cox2 and create
ATP, the chemical needed for healing

Some companies make the claim after they do a trick to justify their claims on their website to trick you into thinking their laser penetrates deeper
Here is the scam: (and many veterinarians have told me about this scam, "especially with animals with thick skins")
Many of the companies that say their laser goes to 5 cm actually does but it doesn't. This was proven with animals with thick furs at first and now cold laser companies are selling lasers that claim to go this far to doctors. Even doctors with medical degrees are not immune to the scams from highly skilled marketeers. What is done is they scammer marketeers selling those lasers need to press the laser diode onto the skin with enough force to move the blood to the sides of the tissue (because blood absorbs light and weakens the beam of light). When you press really hard into your skin when you are sunburned you can see briefly a white mark that disappears in a few seconds.
That is what they are doing. They jack the probe so hard against the skin and to remove the blood away and then claim it goes to 5 cm when it actually doesn't without doing this to the skin. When tissue is 5cm deep, the only way a cheap laser can get to it is by moving the blood (hemoglobin absorbs most of the light in the cheaper lasers which is why most people buy lasers and return them because they didn't work right). Also, if the person has a darker pigmentation, and someone wants to go 5 cm deep this can effect it.
A quality class III cold laser should go 5cm with almost every type of pigmentation and without jamming it into the skin. Also. many companies say their laser will go 5 cm and do those tests on obese people. If you studied lasers, you would know that fat tissue is more transparent than muscle and blood. Get a piece of fat from the butcher and a piece of meat and do a test yourself to prove it. Also, clothes can stop about 80 to 100% of most lasers depending on the thickness and actual color of the clothes. An infused laser is one of the few laser that can penetrate clothes because if just 1% gets through, it works.
Most laser that do go 5cm deep are just speckled light that is so light that it is basically just scattered in the tissue being shined. The light is not intense as you might think and not coherent. It's more like a laser speckles.
A good laser is a laser that penetrates at the top at about 5 cm and spreads out about half that. The next deepest penetrating laser is at 632 nm. A 830 nm laser with 3 gallium aluminum arsenide diodes is very strong. There are different gasses that go in different lasers. The most expensive to produce is this gas.
Some class III lasers have LED mixed with Lasers. For surface issues, the LED is fine. If you just hurt your finger or broke your toe, LEDs can be good because you don't need anything to go 5 cm when your toe is less than 5 cm. Bone on bone problems under the muscles and skin usually need this level. If you are just using it for your finger, it would be over kill to buy a more powerful laser. Only buy a deep penetrating laser if you need more depth.
This is a huge scam in the industry that is absolutely ridiculous. I have personally went to health expos where dealers use a laser on people walking up to their booth and shine the laser on them in a counter clockwise circle. Then they use the "laser they are trying to sell" in a clockwise motion. (I HAVE VIDEOS SHOWING THE SAME LASER CLOCKWISE AND COUNTER CLOCKWISE. One motion takes energy away and one puts energy in. On the lasers I have used, just holding it over the person versus moving it clockwise makes a night and day difference. I am sick of people trying to scam people by failing to use the laser how it should be used. By using perfect clockwise circles it can speed up sessions but not good for doctors since that means less return patients.
Hype vs Real Output Scams:
As of now, you can talk to real people who will tell you if their laser works, including their patients. Some companies let you have a 30 day trial and some don't. If there is no one in your area that can show you the laser, I think the manufacturer should give a 30 day trial. With the new scalar lasers, they usually will give a free trial with a deposit. It is hard to believe the promotional DVDs and videos when every manufacturer makes their laser sound the best. I go by listening to real complaints and positive feedback. Not what sales people tell me. I get my research from users, never the manufacturer.
FDA approved scams: Make sure your laser has a certificate number or you might be getting a laser that is not FDA approved which is illegal to sell. NON FDA approved lasers are legal to sell but if you say its approved and it's not that is a crime. Usually, these are the companies that buy 100 lasers, advertise them on the net, sell them, make a profit, and shut their site down.

There are a lot of things we have learned since we did our new tests in 2011.
We have stopped promoting certain cold lasers and replaced them with lasers that have more accurate parameters. Many of the lasers spec sheets told the power of their lasers but failed to tell the "real" penetration, I call this Phony Penetration. People are confused with absorption. Sure, these lasers can shine their way their tested distance but this does NOT MEAN IT IS BEING ABSORBED. NO WONDER WHY THEY GIVE SO MANY TRIALS. THIS IS WHY I BELIEVE THERE ARE NEVER COMPLAINTS ABOUT CERTAIN LASERS. IF THEY DON'T LIKE THEM THEY RETURN THEM AND HAVE NO REASON TO COMPLAIN AND CAUSE OTHER NAIVE CUSTOMERS TO READ THOSE COMPLAINTS ON THE NET.
THESE TRIALS DO SEEM TO BE THEIR WAY SO THEY DON'T GET BAD PRESS. Anyway, a very powerful laser with the wrong parameters can have less "photobioactivity" than a low powered laser with specific parameters. Some have thermal reactions and others don't transfer the light into heat and a more non-inhibiting stimulating laser with low power can have more absorption even though it has less power.
Another thing I don't like about Class III lasers. Some claim they have deep penetration. Well, who wants to have to press the damn laser to the skin so hard that it moves the blood out of the way. Your hand gets freakin tired after a few minutes of pressing. I get complaints even from the assistants that work in chiropractic offices and they complain to me asking if pressing the laser is really necessary and tell me how they don't like doing this. A good laser should work without having to use pressure into the tissue.
There are newer lasers coming out with divergent beams. These are beams that come out in three dimension. This is the opposite of the a collimation laser that gives little to no divergence at all, just a straight laser beam. Exposure time with divergent beams can lower the irradiation time used on the tissues being treated. I am also starting to see lasers with two or more different laser beam colors. Green and violet lasers combined with red are very interesting too.
What to spend on a laser without getting "not enough" and not "going overkill".
Before buying a cold laser you should know if you want an inhibiting or a non-inhibiting laser. Knowing this will lead you in totally different directions on choosing parameters for picking out your laser. Some people are looking for more power while could possibly need to look for parameters in the lower powered non-inhibiting range.
Pain is what signals most people to buy a cold laser. Their cells are injured or stressed and they are not consuming the oxygen like normal cells. Painful cells are typically full of nitric oxide which interfere with the production of ATP by the mitochondria that are deprived of oxygen. Usually these areas on the body are inflamed and are not producing ATP like they should. The laser that is most helpful can very quickly get rid of this nitric oxide and the inflammation is significantly reduced and the healing process starts and the tissues start becoming stronger and the pain can start to fade. People are spending thousands of dollars to start this process with tissues that are having a very hard time getting the process started on its own.
Class III Lasers Price Ranges
Under $2,000 dollar models
The lasers in the under $2,000 range do work. I will not say they don't work but differently is the way I can describe it based on the ones I have tried and feedback from users. First, these take longer to inhibit pain and reduce inflammation. Do not get confused over the cheaper ones having a lot of power thinking they are like the expensive ones. The parameters and narrowed wavelengths might not be like the more expensive ones but they still work. There is a range between near infrared and far infrared light. With the right gasses in different wavelengths to create the parameters and the field of infrared can make the difference. It might not be important if someone just wants to get rid of pain but some typically don't have as much lasting effects as the better ones. You might have to use these lasers more often and more times per day but then again, you don't pay as much. The spectrum might lean more toward the near infrared on some beams and more toward the far-infrared beams. Where in this range your laser emits can help determine this. The right parameter of the beam can either accelerate or inhibit. One activates the mitochondria and produces ATP and others don't. Just because it is a cold laser doesn't mean it can work. This is why some of the arguments I hear from competing manufactures say another company's laser won't work. Yes, it can be just that for your situation but for another person who does not want to inhibit, that laser might just well be the perfect laser for them. Please, if you are looking to get a laser, make sure you know if you need an inhibiting laser or a non-inhibiting laser. Half the people seem to be looking in the wrong direction just by the odds of their condition. For those that really can't afford a high powered laser, many people are putting stickers on the tips of these lasers to make the cells being treated more sensitive to the light being emitted by that laser. The sticker's biofield is picked up and acts similar to an amplifier to increase the energy of the beam.
$2,000 to $4,000 medium powered
These lasers usually have a narrowed wavelength in the near to far infrared light range. These usually are more powerful than the smaller lasers and usually are the inhibiting lasers. These typically are sold to treat on areas of pain. These typically are the ones that most residential users buy. I wouldn't say the ones in this price range are powerful enough to go very deep to treat the nerves in the back going toward the pain area but do have a purpose. These typically take quicker times to inhibit than the very low powered lasers. The lasers that inflate their power this category seem to have very high ratings but weaken after the beam is actually delivered. $4000, to $6,000+ high powered
This is when you get a bump up in milliwatt power from the cheaper Class III lasers to these. The lasers in this category might have some of the high power of the next category in price range but may or may not have the parameters of that range. Or, they might have the parameters but lesser power which can give the same results but take quite a bit longer. The lasers in this range usually are bought residentially for those who want the parameters of the higher end Class III lasers. In this range look for laser that are closer to the near infrared range. The gasses in the optics in the near infrared range are red and this is the wavelength that can help increase the rate of ATP and stimulate the mitochondria. In this light range, the cells get help becoming oxygenated and help start the healing process. Again, I find it very helpful to increase the voltage that the beam can help transfer by adding one of the stickers. Some stickers can be too strong and can cause too much inflammation. The strongest stickers are good in crisis situation such as when peoples' hands and feet are numb or there is restricted blood flow. Some work as fast as you can see the part you are shining turn red from increased blood flow in under a minute. I have found many lasers in the $5,000 to $6,000 range that are just inflated and are no different than the ones in the $2,000 to $4,000 range. $6,000 to $10,000 High powered, peak wavelength
The analgesic effect lasts longer even at shorter session times. The types of wavelengths from higher end Class III laser probes in the 6 to 10 thousand dollar range should increase ATP and cellular metabolism much faster a the probes to get this wavelength requires extra expenses to get this exact delivery. These wavelengths are the most anti-inflammatory and these probes usually are at least 1000 mw probes and can go up to 400 mw. The 400 mw probes or even the 200 watt probes are overkill as you are only talking maybe an extra savings of 15 seconds per treatment area but in a high traffic clinic these seconds can add up if there are a lot of people waiting to get treatment. For crisis situations where there is throbbing pain or the pain is intolerable, I would recommend the lasers in this class. Again, the cheaper lasers can work if they have the right protocols but usually don't work as quick as the lasers in this category.
There are lasers in this range that have inflated prices and those that are fairly priced. To know you aren't getting scammed, make sure you know the correct wavelengths or the protocols you are treating in your clinic and you will know if you are getting a high end laser that its light will actually be absorbed by the body (cytochrome c oxidase, to be exact) to rid the nitric oxide levels in the "tissues" so ATP can start the production more efficiently. Cellular activity can be increased in the lasers in this category, including healing times and the deepest pains. These lasers typically have a very narrowed range, usually 660 to 680 nm and very high powered.
Remember, there are 2 types of uses for Class III lasers that I have found.
The first is for people that want to reduce inflammation and get the analgesic effects by simply blocking the pain receptors. Things that disrupts the cellular process and have a blocking effect can stop the healing process and may act simply as a "Bandaid" until the healing process is underway. (Note: most high end lasers are equipped with different types of LEDs that do the opposite of the laser and "cause" inflammation to the area. The pain blocking is only temporary. I would never try to inhibit the actual pain area by shining the laser where it hurts. Many people that call me have knee pain and they are shining the laser right on their knees. Most of the clinics do not do this but people who buy them on the internet without any education just shine it on their knee like an idiot who thinks they know it all and want to bypass the chiropractor or doctor who has a high end laser in their clinic. Many people get laser treatments more than they need to because they are using lasers with the wrong parameters and worse, wrong protocols. inhibiting when they could be using non-inhibiting)
